This evening in Manchester I have to report the news that I am feeling very down and deflated. Why you may ask? Well..because tonight my beloved Manchester City narrowly lost to Real Madrid in a nail biting Champions League match. My team took the lead twice and lost in the last few minutes by 3 goals to 2. At this level this is something that cannot be afforded. The match was inevitably going to be a fairly one sided affair because of the pressure of playing away in Madrid against a hostile crowd against one of the best teams in the world. For most of the first half it was a fairly one sided affair with MCFC keeping Real out – Joe Hart was outstanding. However in the second half it exploded and it was more of an evenly balanced affair. When Yaya Toure put Edin Dzeko through to score the opening goal against the run of play I was ecastatic. When Real scored to equalise I was deflated. When we scored again via Kolarov I was over the blue moon. However when they equalised I sensed that it was a matter of hanging on. Real just kept on coming and attacking and in the end Ronaldo popped up to score – a combination of an error by Kompany and Hart. Real were given too much room to shoot on the edge of the Manchester City box all the way through the match. The atmosphere in the dressing room after the match must have been dreadful…this is a loss that hurts. We have to move on from this affair, pick ourselves up and move on…Arsenal comes up on Sunday…let’s see what happens then.
